About

Maw Maw (the designation in Cajun French for grandmother) and Pere (short for Grandpere, the french word for grandfather) are enjoying this season in life which gives us the opportunity to travel. We have been concentrating our travels in North America, using different modes of transportation (e.g., motor home, scooter/ebike, cruise ship, and planes).

Pere is Cajun French, growing up on a cotton/sweet potato farm in south Louisiana. He is a retired master electrician. He started out as a lineman, but he spent most of his career working in chemical plants on high voltage. As a seasoned electrician, he wrapped up his career as an electrical consultant for an Engineering firm. Starting in 2020, he has been helping friends and family with odd jobs.

Maw Maw has deep roots in Louisiana, too. Her father’s family moved to central Louisiana in 1812. Her mother’s family has been in that area since before Europeans showed up. She is a retired Computer Scientist. She retired from a federal contractor in 2017, where she specialized in modeling and simulation research and development. After retirement, she taught Computer Science for fun at THE premier Research I university – Geaux Tigers!.

Both Maw Maw and Pere retired for real in 2023, so we can spend more quality time with our children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and do more of the traveling that we so love.
